About this course
Most item writers already know nursing. What they haven't been shown is how to take an AI-drafted question and make it defensible — structurally sound, mapped to the right Client Needs category, written at the right reading level, with a key that holds up under scrutiny. That gap is what this course closes.
You'll work through the 2026 NCLEX-PN test plan from the ground up: the eight Client Needs categories, the six integrated processes, and the CAT structure that determines how items are selected and scored. From there, you'll apply a repeatable six-step review workflow to every item type the PN exam uses — traditional formats like Multiple Choice, Multiple Response, Calculation, Ordered Response, and Hot Spot, plus the Next Generation NCLEX formats built around the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model. For each format, you'll learn the specific rules: exact stem language, distractor requirements, option counts, and the common errors AI drafts tend to introduce.
By the end, you'll be able to pick up any AI-generated item, identify what's wrong, and edit it to a standard that would survive an NCSBN review. The course uses worked examples throughout, including a benchmark autonomic-dysreflexia NGN case study, so you're always editing real items rather than reading about editing them.
